Unfortunately
I am one of the few of us in this program who hasn’t found an internship yet.
Instead of talking about my job hunting woes, I would rather address one of my
favorite things about the program. As a
history major, everything that we have learned so far has been completely new
to me. Obviously it’s pretty scary and
intimidating, but I actually find it to be more exciting than either of those
things. It’s almost like I’m going to school for the first time. However, I
think the thing that I most appreciate and enjoy about the MSBA program is the
size of the class. Because our class is
so small it makes it easier to build relationships with each other and set a
comfortable classroom setting. I have a
terrible fear of public speaking to the point where sometimes I don’t even want
to raise my hand in class to either answer a question, out of fear of being
wrong, or ask a question, out of fear of sounding dumb. So you can imagine then that giving presentations
has always been out of the question for me. However, with a class this small and
with one that I’m feeling more comfortable around each day it is the perfect
setting to practice in. Hopefully, by graduation I’ll be fearless (or at least
able to finish a presentation) when it comes to public speaking. I’m not even close to being at that point yet
though, so Mr. McHie, please don’t call on me in class tomorrow!
Thank you for your honesty Amanda. Start by participating fully in small groups and work your way up. And check with MS. Kelly on that internship search.
ReplyDeleteHi Amanda!
ReplyDeleteWe were just talking about your fear of public speaking the other day! We have been in a couple of project groups together and you speak very eloquently in those! I bet by the end of the year you will be a pro! And don't feel alone... I get a little shaky when speaking in front of large groups of people too!
